William Butterfield (1814-1900). One of the most strident of all 19th century church architects; his All Saints, Margaret Street, in London is seen as the touchstone of the 19th century Anglo-Catholic movement, and a model for Anglo-Catholic churches all over the world. He made great use of colour, using contrasting bricks in walls, and contrasting tiles on floors. His churches are full of carvings.
