Eucharist. The central act of Christian worship. From the Greek word for 'thanksgiving', this re-enactment of the meal on the eve of Christ's crucifixion is also called Mass (in Catholic churches), Holy Communion (in most Anglican churches) and the Lord's supper (in some Anglican and free churches).
